The Mummy 3
Liked It
Move over Professor Indiana Jones!  Your crystal skull has been cracked by adventurer Rick O’Connell and his family of tomb raiders. Read more...
Swing Vote
Liked It
I’ve never been a big Kevin Costner fan. And in this hyper-political climate, the idea of watching a political film did not appeal to me. Yet, by the end of Swing Vote, my vote had changed. Read more...
The X-Files: I Want to Believe
Rent It
Is the truth really out there? I don’t know if it is or not, but there is a bigger question on my mind. Why did the makers of The X Files wait so long for a sequel to their 1998 hit? Read more...
Step Brothers
Liked It
Welcome back Will Ferrell! After a brief dramatic turn in Stranger Than Fiction. Not to mention moderately funny appearances in Talladega Nights and Blades of Glory. Oh, and who can forget the recent debacle Semi Pro. Let’s just say, his track record got a bit off track. Now, he’s back in a hilarious movie from producer Judd Apatow. Read more...
The Dark Knight
Loved It
I've been waiting for The Dark Knight since the credits began to roll at the end of Batman Begins. Now that the back story has been fully established, Batman faces his first major villain in the Joker, one of Heath Ledger's final roles. Read more...
Mama Mia
Rent It
Oh mamma! Why do you sing so much? Now, I don’t mind a good musical. There has been some top notch stage to screen flicks in recent years. The big difference between those gems and the new ABBA based musical Mamma Mia is that they were interesting. Read more...
Meet Dave
Don't Bother
Remember the Eddie Murphy of the 80’s? You know the one who did movies like Coming to America, Trading Places, 48 Hours and Delirious? Even the Eddie Murphy of the 90’s gave us Boomerang and The Nutty Professor. As I watched Meet Dave, the follow-up to last year’s abysmal Norbit, I asked myself, “What the hell happened?” Read more...
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Liked It
Journey to the Center of the Earth is a pleasant surprise. It’s a solidly entertaining family adventure film that the kids (and the kids at heart) should thoroughly enjoy. But if you want to make the most out of the experience pay the extra money to see it at an IMAX theater so you can truly appreciate the 3-D effects. Read more...
Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
Rent It

I was absolutely mesmerized by the trailer for Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. It was visually stunning and very intense. The movie instantly made a spot on my ‘must see” blockbuster list for the summer. Only days before my screening of this new installment, I rented the original and loved it!  Unfortunately, the verdict on its sequel is still out. Read more...

Hancock
Liked It
Look! In the sky…it’s a bird, it’s a plane, no… it’s a bummed out brother named Hancock and he is blowing up in the city of angels…literally! Read more...
Wanted
Liked It
If you enjoy over-the-top action sequences and aren't squeamish when it comes to a little bit of the old ultra-violence; then you will want to see Wanted, the new actioner starring Angelina Jolie. Read more...
Get Smart
Rent It
I’m always weary when old TV series make a run for the big screen, so I cringed a bit when I heard they were revisiting the spy-spoof Get Smart. But then I heard that Steve Carell (of The Office and The 40-Year Old Virgin) was stepping into the telephonic shoes of Don Adams (the original Maxwell Smart) and I got all excited. Carell truly was inspired casting. I just wished the rest of the film had shown a little more inspiration. Read more...
The Love Guru
WTF
We all at one time or another have felt the need for a love guru.  You know, someone to help us through those tough times in our rocky relationships. If you ever become that desperate for help do yourself a favor and don’t call Mike Myers or his dumb character in the new “comedy” The Love Guru. Read more...
Incredible Hulk
Liked It
When I heard Edward Norton was in talks to star in a new version of The Incredible Hulk, I admit I had my doubts. Just like the ones I had when I heard Robert Downey Jr. was on tap to star in Ironman. Luckily, both actors proved they had the right stuff to fill these massive shoes. Read more...
The Happening
Liked It
Okay, I'm going to go against the critical tide and say that I really enjoyed The Happening. I try not to go into a movie with preconceived notions; but I have to admit, after Lady in the Water and The Village, I had my misgivings. I was pleasantly surprised. Read more...
Kung Fu Panda
Liked It
Recently in theaters, you’ve seen rats cooking gourmet meals and bees going on the defensive. Now, a loveable panda bear is kickin butt in the new animation hit Kung Fu Panda. Read more...
WTF
Going to an Adam Sandler comedy and expecting sophisticated and nuanced humor is like going to a strip club and expecting ballet. Judd Apatow, the guy that gave us The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and SuperBad, co-wrote You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, with his old friend and former roommate, Sandler, and with that duo, you’d expect a hefty dose of raunchy and gross-out humor. You’d also expect it to be funny but you would be wrong. Oh so wrong. Read more...
Liked It
Okay, ladies! Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha are back! And while some things have changed; a lot of things remain the same. The Sex and the City Movie is like reconnecting with an old friend. Read more...
The Strangers
Liked It
So, you say you like to be scared? Looks like Halloween is coming a little early this year.  The Strangers is the latest horror film to make its way onto the big screen and take my word for it, prepare to scream. Read more...
Indiana Jones
Rent It
Summer 2008 is quickly shaping up to be the season of the lackluster blockbuster. With only a handful of flicks in the marketplace, critical and commercial supremacy has gone to Ironman. The one movie destined to melt old Iron down to size is the Spielberg/Lucas juggernaut Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I don’t know Indy, the funds may go your way, but the fans are not so happy with your return. Read more...
