Some people will go to great lengths to get lucky...in love. In the new raunchy teen comedy Sex Drive, a young virgin will drive cross country to meet the girl of his dreams. Unfortunately, what he has to go through to get her is nothing short of a nightmare. Ian (Josh Zuckerman) is a sexually uptight senior who is dying to lose his virginity, but too scared to make a move. He takes out his frustrations online chatting with a hot blonde girl that lives out of state. Tired of the endless flirting, his young chat buddy invites him to join her in person for some real action. Reluctant at first, Ian is talked into taking the 600 mile trip by his whorish best friend Lance (Clark Duke). The two teens pile into Ianʼs deranged older brotherʼs(James Marsden) souped up car and head out with his other best friend Felicia (Amanda Crew). The only problem is, Ian has started to grow feelings for Felicia who has started to grow feelings for Lance. Comedy ensues as the three teens run into obstacle after obstacle in their search for the ultimate pleasure. I have to admit, I had no expectation for this film. I thought it would be yet another dumb sex comedy with tasteless jokes and gratuitous nudity. I was absolutely right on both accounts, but this movie had so much more. There was an unexpected heart that I didnʼt expect. There were some dumb jokes, but there were also some very clever and fresh ones as well. In comedies, itʼs hard to keep the momentum up for the duration of the feature. This movie was an exception. The laughs kept coming. There was also a hysterical cameo by Seth Green who plays the hippest Amish guy youʼd ever want to meet. American Pie and Superbad, make a little room for Sex Drive. |
